If it weren’t for the We All Grow Summit, I probably would have never given Long Beach, California the time of day considering how close it is to Los Angeles – and what a disservice I would have been doing to myself.
While I’ve attended many blogging conferences, none live up to the We All Grow Summit sponsored trips, which ranged from a Neutrogena pampering extravaganza in Malibu to a day at Disneyland. But you were in good hands with whatever trip you snagged because I’m sure all provided a long lasting memorable experience that alone sets the conference apart from the many others I’ve attended, which will remain nameless. 😉 We had the pleasure to partake in the Long Beach tour and here is what went down:
Harbor Breeze Cruise
I’ve heard the weather in SoCal is great all year around and the weather on the boat ride did not disappoint. Departing from the Hotel Maya (read here about our stay from last year) the sun was shining, a light breeze was blowing and there was an open bar. Mimosas on deck!
Museum of Latin American Art
The Frank Romero exhibit called Dreamland: A Frank Romero Retrospective at MOLAA was a mishmash of pop art and Latino pride. Some of my favorites were the various interpretations of cars and who can’t resist a boomerang of a neon pop art pistola. Bang Bang!
Aquarium of the Pacific
We landed at the Aquarium of the Pacific, which is the largest in the SoCal area. Did you know that the aquarium hosts events and has a full catering service? Well they do and after having the pleasure of eating lunch and experiencing some of the delicacies offered such as the beef short rib, roasted beet mashed potato with Bleu cheese béchamel (pictured above), this space is definitely worth considering for your next event.
We then got up and personal with the animals including a fish that totally mean mugged me. It was pretty dope!
After getting a fair share of some of Long Beach’s offering on the ground the Long Beach Business and Convention and Visitors Bureau didn’t think it was enough and put together an aerial tour of the city. WHAT!!! I’ve never been on a helicopter before and I’m cheezing as I write this because not only would this be a first, but it would also check off #56 on The List.
To say I was tired is an understatement, but if I had the opportunity to do it all again I would in a heartbeat. A big thank you to the We All Grow Summit organizers and sponsors including: Long Beach Business and Convention and Visitors Bureau, Harbor Breeze Cruises, MOLAA, Aquarium of the Pacific and Anthelion Helicopters who came dressed to impress and show an East Coast girl like myself what the West Coast outside of Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego has to offer.
